ALBERTA BEEF APPLE POT ROAST

  • 1 Slow Cooker

Ingredients
  

  • 3 lbs Boneless, Alberta Beef Chuck Pot Roast, cut in half. 
  • 1 cup Western Family Beef Broth 
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp Western Family Soy Sauce 
  • 1/2 tsp Western Family Worcestershire Sauce 
  • 1/4 tsp Western Family Garlic Powder 
  • 1/2 tsp Western Family Onion Powder 
  • 2 Cosmic Crisp Apples (peeled and cored)  large
  • 2 tsp Western Family Corn Starch 
  • 2 tsp water 

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pan, and brown your roast on all sides before transferring to the slow cooker.
  • Add 1 cup of Western Family Beef Broth to the pan to loosen the browned pieces stuck on the pan, and pour over the roast. 
  • Sprinkle with salt, Western Family Garlic Powder & Western Family Onion Powder.
  • Pour into the slow cooker Western Family Soy Sauce and Western Family Worcestershire Sauce.
  • Top with the sliced apples. 
  • Cover, and cook on low for 5-6 hours.
  • Remove roast from the slow cooker and discard the apple slices. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • To make the gravy, pour the juices from the slow cooker into a saucepan and simmer until it reduces to approximately 2 cups of liquid.
  • Combine Western Family Corn Starch and water until smooth in a small bowl, then stir it into your beef broth.
  • Bring to a boil, continue cooking for 2 minutes until thickened.
  • Slice roast, and serve with gravy.
